The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday has taken former OC of Teknaf police station Pradeep Kumar Das and two others into custody for 7-day remand over the death of retired Bangladesh Army Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.
They were taken to RAB office from the Jail at Cox’s Bazar at 11:30 am on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, a probe committee formed by the home ministry quizzed Pradeep, Inspector Liaqat Ali and Sub-inspector Nandadulal at Cox”s Bazar Jail gate.
On the night of July 31, Major Sinha was shot dead at a police checkpoint on Marine Drive Road between Cox’s Bazar and Teknaf.
On August 5, Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Teknaf against nine policemen, including Pradeep and Liakat.
On August 6, seven of the accused surrendered in court, which sent them to jail after scrapping their bail pleas.
