Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three following the influence of strong monsoon and steep pressure gradient over the North Bay.
“A low has formed over the northwest Bay and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal-Bangladesh coast and intensified into a well-marked low over the same area,” said a met office weather bulletin on Thursday.
Under its influence strong monsoon and steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Meanwhile, the Met Office forecasted that light to moderate rain with thunder showers is likely to occur at most places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at many places over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattagram divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at few places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions,” said another met office release issued this morning.
